Donald Trump reflects on surviving an assassination attempt with a creative twist, stating, “According to the odds, I should be pushing up daisies by now.”

While on his way to deliver an address at Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention, Trump said, “I’m not supposed to be here; I’m supposed to be dead.”

“The most incredible thing was that I happened to not only turn [my head] but to turn at the exact right time and in just the right amount,” he stated, adding that the bullet could have easily killed him.

A spectator who attended the rally was killed, while two others were critically wounded.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Pennsylvania as the “subject involved” in what it termed an attempted assassination. He was gunned down by Secret Service agents soon after he opened fire from the roof of a building about 140 meters from the stage.

With a white bandage covering his right ear, Trump stated that the doctors in the hospital called it a “miracle.”.

The gunshot seems to not have deterred the Republican leader in the slightest, as soon after the incident, Trump raised his fist in the air and said, “Fight.”

“A lot of people say it’s the most iconic photo they’ve ever seen,” Trump said.

“They’re right, and I didn’t die. Usually, you have to die to have an iconic picture,” he added.

Trump told the Post that he wanted to continue speaking following the shooting; however, Secret Service agents insisted on taking him to the hospital.

“I just wanted to keep speaking, but I just got shot,” he said.

According to the New York Post, his aides did not allow any photographs of the former US President to be taken.
