Kim Kardashian critics have said that the reality star likely thinks she’s still “relevant” after an alleged brutal Taylor Swift diss track appeared on the singer’s album, thought to be about the SKIMS founder.
On Friday (April 19), American hitmaker Taylor Swift unveiled her latest body of work – The Tortured Poets Department. Two hours after releasing TTPD, she announced was dropping a surprise second album with an additional 15 songs. One of the tracks, Thank You Aimee, stylised as thanK you aIMee, caught the attention of fans with it quickly speculated that it was written with Kim Kardashian in mind.
The track, which has the letters spelling Kim in caps has some harsh lyrics that seemingly feature some brutal digs at Kim. “There’s a bronze spray-tanned statue of you and a plaque underneath it / That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school,” Taylor sings in the first part of the song.
She has previously spoken about her long-running and tense feud with Kim and how it “took her down psychologically”, with the lyrics going on to add: “All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed “F*ck you, Aimee. Another clue that points towards the song being about Kim is when Taylor croons: “I don’t think you’ve changed much / And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues.”
Reacting to Taylor’s track, Kardashian fans and critics on Reddit have weighed in with their thoughts. One person penned: “Haha Taylor is petty AF but let’s be honest Kim will be LOVING this, in her eyes it means she’s still ‘relevant’.”
Another added: “All publicity is good publicity for them. This is gonna run up the skims revenue.” While a third recalled the lyrics: “All that time you were throwin’ punches, it was all for nothin'”, adding: “Referencing Kim divorcing Kanye so basically her whole feud with Taylor was for nothing!!!! COLD BLOODED.”
